Castrol raceway

This Saturday I went camping at the Castrol raceway with my friend. We saw the heat races and the final event races. It was my first time watching the races in actually person and it was a pretty neat experience. It was a very loud night because the cars went extremely fast. My personal favourite cars were the sprint cars because the turn cool and the go really fast. In the finally event for the sprint cars, there was 20 cars and in the very first lap, turn one, 4 cars crashed and two were absolutely destroyed. This was the first, and only, time that the race track went into red flag condition. It got me very concerned and worried but luckily everyone was fine. After all the races were done I thought back on that crash and it was pretty interesting watching that crash.  Now that the races are done for this weekend, I really want to go back with my family or a different friend because those races were something else. I never would’ve went to a racing event if my friend didn’t in...

My hiking trip

For those of you that didn’t know, our family, except for dad, went hiking in the mountains. We have hiked on different trails but never this one. I was both exited and worried about this new trail but you never will know if you like or don’t like something unless you try it. It was a 14.4km hike on way through trees and rocks and all of that. Once we got there it was late in the morning early after noon. There was warning of the trails being flooded but we still went anyway. Within the first 100m we ran into the first part of the trail that was flooded. There was some rocks that we were able to get across with. Sadly we didn’t see the actual path before we crossed the rocks. When we crossed the rocks there was a big stream to the left of us. We were walking through the trees trying to find the path, after about 1km of walking though trees we saw other people walking on the other side of the stream, which was the right side, and asked them how they got across. It turns out that inste...

Second and last week of summer school

I am now done summer school, thankfully, but I am glad I took it. We learned a whole bunch of different things to to with career and life management, sexual assault, difficulties in bad relationships and things like that. It was two busy weeks that involved waking up early and driving into town. The sixth day of summer school we watched “pursuit of happiness” and did a write up on that. It was a really good movie that thought me some pretty valuable lessons. The first one being always try your best and overcome the obstacles that life throws at you. The second being the never risk all you have to try and get more, never take anyone or anything for granted. Moving on to the next couple of days, we talked about healthy and unhealthy relationships, sexual assault, and LGTBQ+ people. There was lots of information that I didn’t know that got shared with me during these presentations. I learned about lots of different terms about LGTBQ+ people, I learned that sexual assault can happen wi...

My summer so far

As all of you guys know, it is the second week into summer vacation. It has been going by really fast and it gets hard to notice. For the past week I have been doing summer school for a class in high school. It has its up and downs such as I don’t need to take the class in high school but I have to wake up early in order to make class. Other then that my summer has consisted of staying home and cleaning the house. Summer school only lasts to weeks so after the two weeks I am free to sleep in. In summer school we learn about career and life management for our future. We first did this project online were we had to answer a whole bunch of questions and it would show us what job/career we would be happy in. The career that this system chose for me was a musician. I never really put much thought into being a musician and I think it will be a pretty interesting career. Now we are watching a movie called “The Pursuit of Happiness”. It is about this guy(Cris) who goes bankrupt after inve...

Canada day

This Sunday, as most of you know, was Canada day. It was a busy day that was long, hot, and windy. Throughout the day, I did a lot of different things ranging from running at people while in a inflatable ball(pretty sure it’s called a zorb ball but I’m not too sure), to playing dodgeball with bow and arrows. As the day progressed, the more people came. Lines grew, more crowds gathered, however, this day is not one to forget. My day started off at seven a.m. Mom woke me up and then in 30 minutes, away we went to Jubilee park. By the time we got there, everything was already set up so we didn’t have to do anything. Just a few minutes later Mr. Bauer brought in some donuts and coffee. The donuts didn’t stand a chance but this coffee stayed for a little bit. Now onto the demos. Each demo was different with each a new challenge. For the one in stony plain, that challenge was obvious. On a hill with slippery grass and lots of wind, I mean what can go wrong. Anyway, fortunately nobody...
