Commitment

Commitment is a very essential part in trying to achieve anything. If you have a lack of commitment, you will struggle in achieving many goals. If you ever want to earn a black belt, commitment is crucial. So, what is commitment? When I think of commitment I think of the strive for the absence of mediocrity. Commitment is what we use  when we are pushing ourselves past our comfort zone or when we strive to achieve something. Take Kung fu and I Ho Chuan for example. You are committed to both Kung fu and I Ho Chuan, but it can go even deeper then that. You need commitment when you are training to get to you next belt. But even further, you need commitment to every single block and strike and stance in Kung fu. However take this with a grain of salt, when I say committed to a strike, I don’t mean throwing everything into that strike and sacrificing your centre, I mean keep your centre, move with vigour and keep your intent in mind. Although commitment is essential part in kung fu, you don’t want to be too committed. You have to find the balance between kung fu and your home life or work life. You shouldn’t be committed to the point where you make no time for your family, family should always be #1
