My numbers for push ups and sit ups

Lately, I have been dropping my game when it comes to push ups and sit ups. I have fallen behind in many places. Like when I went to Jasper for four days, I did none. Same with the sun run. Even I would get tired and not do them or I will forget. It’s easy to get behind with anything that you do. If you take one day off and then that translates into 2 days and so on. You may even forget about them and just not do them by accident. In the end don't take days off, it wrecks the habit. In my eyes there is nothing more painful then having to get back into system that works. Throughout writing this blog I began to understand the meaning of never settle for mediocracy. Always try to push yourself and do 5e best you can so if you do fall behind, you have a safety net.

The sun run

On April 22 2018, 40112 individuals ran the Vancuver sun run. For those of you who don’t know what the sun run is, it’s a 10k run/walk in Vancuver. You run around Vancuver and see many interesting cites like Stanley Park. While I was running the sun run, I didn’t see one look of disappointment. Everyone was happy, even the elderly people who could barley run still ran it and had a blast. The whole province and other provinces, maybe even some states, were all brought together by this spectacular event. People who didn’t run were on the sidewalks cheering people on. The held up encouraging signs like “you can do it” and “almost there!” and “free high fives” and even “go random stranger go!” Not only did people take time to make all of these signs, but people actually volunteered to give out water to participatnts and play music. There was this one uphill just before the 6km marker and someone took Mario game power ups and hung the from signs and street lamps. They even took fishing ...

What sparring does to my Kung Fu

Open training is a good opportunity to practice anything you want. During open training I sparred with 8 different people and a total of 11 rounds. During those sparring matches, not only did I get a good workout, I got the chance to practice certain moves and learn how to combo together other techniques.  While I was sparring, something clicked in my mind. Sparring at the kwoon is the best place to practice techniques. It is a safe, controlled environment and everyone is willing to help. Many times during Saturday I got many different pointers for me to work on. Although sparring gives you opportunities for trying new techniques, it also helps with your defence and getting your guards up. While sparring, I lost my ground many times. I also got into really bad positions and my opponent got hit after hit. Around the last sparring match, I was giving up less ground and stayed in a good position. Sparring does have its ups and downs but it is all for the better. If you get ...

What I Ho Chuan has to for me so far.

I feel like I Ho Chuan has changed me both physically and mentally so far. Before I joined I thought that it would take a while to notice a change. But now we are almost 3 months in and I am seeing major changes. One change that I have notice is that I seem more anchored to the world. By that I mean that I can understand things much easier and soak in as much information as I can. Not only at kung fu am I seeing this but at school as well. I can learn new topics really quickly and help others who need help. I also feel like I am getting to know people much better and feel more comfortable talking to new people. I always struggled with talking to adults, even if they are trying to help me. Now I like to talk to adults because I get to know them better. I find that the better you know someone, the closer you become with that specific individual. Although we are barley 3 months into I Ho Chuan and I’m already seeing changes, I can’t wait to see the improvement I will achieve in the ...

Our trip to jasper

This Easter our family and dogs had the privilege to go winter camping in Jasper. We stayed there for 3 nights and did many different activities. The dogs were a handful on this vacation but I really enjoyed bringing them. Our first night we stayed around the campground and explored. Eagle and I went to the river and saw some bear tracks which was pretty awesome. After exploring we started a fire and had a wiener roast. The wiener roast consisted of wieners(of course) buns, mustard, relish, and cheese. We forgot the ketchup at home. Anyway after the wiener roast we started roasting marshmallows. We had no crackers so we used Oreos and that was good. Our second day, we went skiing at Marmit Bason. The condition made it hard to sky because there was so much powder. The powder was litterly up to my knees! I did about four runs before I called it quits and stayed in the lobby with dad. In the lobby we were talking and playing 4 pics 1 word. After about 30 minutes mom and Katie came in ...
